Our 2 1/2 yr. old Lab/hound mix has suffered from allergies forever. After 1 year of a weekly vaccine from dog dermatologist, he is still suffering from severe head/ear/neck scratching. New vet has recommended veggie AND gluten-free food, but I cannot find any.
Thank you.
Try grain free for starters. Gluten free vegetarian food is for humans not dogs. Dogs are carnivores. the allergies may very well be related to the wheat, corn, or other grain fillers in the kibble. The grain free is full of veggies and fruit and MEAT and you should see an improvement in just a couple of weeks.
ADD: The gluten free vegetarian dog food is available at health food stores. I’ve seen it there. Small bags, high prices.

i live near Philadelphia PA and i cant find any. i need gluten free food because i have Celia disease.i really need help.thanks
Hi. If you have them, try Whole Foods, Wegman’s, Giant Foods, and even WalMart. Most health food stores also stock gluten free foods. I live in a smaller town and have no problems finding gf foods. In Philly you should not have an issue.
Also you can mail order from the gluten free mall on celiac.com, Bob’s Red Mill amongst other places.
While you are at the GF Mall, please buy yourself one of those GF shopping guides (Cecelia’s or Clan Thompson) so you know which mainstream products are safe for you to buy and consume (you still have to check labels, but it is a great starting place).
Happy Healing and Welcome to the club!
