Gluten-free restaurant menu?

January 42009

I can't eat gluten. What restaurants have a gluten-free menu?

Not to be bias, but you should take a look at my Website, http://www.celiachandbook.com

Thousands of restaurants listed in all 50 states and over 30 countries around the world.

Good luck.

Wow, hamburger, have not had one of those in a long time. Gluten free means gluten free. You must avoid yeast also. Hamburger has lots of yeast and gluten in the bun and the meat patty has gluten (flour) to bind it. Just stick to organic veges and wild game meats, such as fresh wild fish (not farmed) and kangaroo. I have to stay completely off the dairy also.
Did you have a boring Melbourne Cup too. I can’t work, but also can’t go to a Cup function either. Depressing side of MCS.

Planning a vacation with food allergies-help! Honeymoon and I need organic, gluten-free restaurants and green?

October 212008

I will be going on my honeymoon during typical Spring Break time and am looking for somewhere warm (in the USA including Hawaii) that will not have a million drunk college students to deal with. I need help finding a hotel and allergy friendly city/area (such as a hotel that is ‘green’ and offers organic food), restaurants in the area that are organic and have gluten free menus. We’ve been told a big city is the way to go. I’ve been researching on the web and it seems like all the resources (foodallergyhelper.com, for example) are geared toward kids with peanut allergies.

Here are my allergies:
pesticides, preservatives, food dyes (so I have to eat organic)
chemicals, air fresheners (so I have to stay in a ‘green’ hotel)
gluten, wheat (so I have to have restaurants nearby with an allergy menu)

Please give me tips including:
*cities or destinations in the USA (including Hawaii) you know to have green hotels and organic foods that will be warm in late March and won’t have spring breakers
*agencies, online groups, or other support numbers or sites I can contact for help (I’d love to find honeymoonfoodallergyhelp.com, or something like that, but am having difficulty… ;)

Thank you!!!

Hi,
It might be helpful to have a look at ‘Specialgourmets’, a guide of restaurants and hotels with options for people with food allergies and celiac disease. Here is the link: http://specialgourmets.com. Hope it helps!

Menu Ideas please!?

October 62008

I've been a vegetarian for 14 years and have just found out I can no longer have wheat, or soya products.

This means I can't have any of the conventional meat replacements such as Quorn , Tofu or soy mince, even normal veggie burgers have wheat in!

Does anyone know a site with gluten and soy free veggie recipes? It's a long shot I know!

Thanks.
no, not a troll, serious question…..

Seems easy to get protein from other sources such as beans, nuts, so I don't think I am going to have to eat meat. It's just a new adaptation to my diet.

You have a very slim menu choice as it is being a vegetarian. Yes, a very long shot.

Some recipes I found:
*Hot Millet Breakfast Cereal
*Wheat-free, Gluten-free Zucchini-Feta Pancakes
*Mushroom-Sage Risotto
*Dairy-free Potato Leek Soup
*Nut-Free Trail Mix

These were some I found. I really hope I helped you out. Sorry if this isn't much :)

-Best Wishes

Need Easter Menu….!?

October 52008

My two best girlfriends are coming over for Easter 'linner' and I have no idea what to make. I am lactose intolerant, so cheese, milk, etc are out. One girlfriend is allergic to sugar and is gluten free. The third is vegan (thoug does not mind if there's a sprinkle of cheese on her salad–she doesn't flip out or anything). Their kids and my family are getting together (well, we are ALL family) and I would like something easy to make. Was thinking getting prestuffed chicken breasts from Sprouts and a masala burger for my vegan friend, but what else???? HELP! We're also thinking of potlucking it, but just to be safe….

You should see us when we attempt to go out to dinner! LMAO! Ironically Red Robin works best–veggie burgers for all!

I would potluck and have everyone bring their favorite dish, this way everyone's happy and you get to try new things.
